The Mizuno Wave Rider 30 is a completely reimagined, max-cushion neutral daily training shoe launched in June 2026. Built to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the franchise, Mizuno's design team overhauled the shoe from scratch, turning a traditionally conservative workhorse into a highly modernized, protective trainer.

Major Technical Upgrades
Reviewers from Road Trail Run and Believe in the Run highlight three major shifts from previous generations:
  • Massive Stack & New Foams: The stack height increases significantly (+6mm in the forefoot, +4mm in the heel) to bring it into max-cushion territory. The midsole uses a dual-layer setup with supercritical, nitrogen-infused ENERZY NXT foam on top for plush, springy rebound, and a stable EVA base underneath.
  • First-Ever Full-Length Wave Plate: Shifting away from the traditional half-length heel plate, the Wave Rider 30 introduces a full-length Wave Plate extending to the toes. This unified design improves shock dispersion and guides a smooth, rolling transition.
  • Lowered Drop: To smooth out the heel-to-toe transition, Mizuno lowered the drop to 8mm, making it feel much more modern and fluid than older 12mm iterations.
  • Premium Knit Upper: An upgraded engineered knit upper provides an adaptive, highly breathable midfoot lockdown with more plush cushioning around the heel collar.
Who is it for?
The Wave Rider 30 is highly recommended by experts for beginner runners and daily loggers who want a stable, deeply protective shoe for cruising miles. Because the Wave Plate spans full-length, it offers excellent inherent tracking and stability without the invasive feel of a traditional stability shoe. It is a versatile choice for easy paces, long runs, and everyday heavy training.
