Starting from Scratch Training for 2025 Ironman California

Why am I doing this?

1.      Blunt Reason - To improve Search Engine Optimization for Google, to help out the store.  Apparently a blog will help.  If you knew me, you’d know I don’t want to embarrass myself on the internet with this stuff.

2.      To show new runners, people who have not run in a while or people who are not runners, that we all start from some version of scratch at some point.

3.      To share my knowledge about running shoes, apparel and accessories.  Knowledge I have or gain during the process.

Day 1 info

·         I do Ironman races to prove to myself that I can and to go to interesting places with my wife and kids. I will never approach a podium finish.

·         My PR is a very slow 14:50:07 in 2012 when I was 42.  My goal in California is 13:50:06.

·         I’m a big guy, 6’5” 265 lbs right now.  I’ll be closer to 240 lbs. for this year’s race.

·         I’m a good swimmer, ok cyclist and horrible runner.  I own a running store because I have made every running mistake that can be made so I’d like to help others avoid them.

Coming Posts

·

·         Post on most of my gear – from running shoes (of course) to Garmin devices (including the Xero)

Coaching – do I use it? Who do I use if I do? Does it help? What does it cost?

Reviews of my running shoes, bottles, nutrition choices, etc.

Although I’m sure it will take time, I’d love to get questions and comments and even welcome people to contact me at the store
